Learning to Change, Changing to Learn

The Charter Academy of Tomorrow (The CAT) focuses on the development of the 21st Century skills our youth will need to succeed in the future. The CAT combines evolving technology and a strong arts curriculum with a solid foundation in the educational basics to engage a community of leaders and learners in higher order thinking, creativity, innovation, problem solving, communication, and collaborating skills.  Students will demonstrate, through authentic, experiential learning activities, mastery of the educational building blocks, global connectedness, and preparedness for the challenges of the 21st Century.

An alternative choice!

The Charter Academy of Tomorrow (The CAT) will provide an alternative choice for middle and high school students who are interested in developing the technological, artistic skills and traditional core competencies required to succeed in the 21st Century.    The school’s arts and technology focus and “21st Century Skills” foundation is based on research and sound learning practices.  International awareness and critical thinking proficiencies will also be strongly promoted in order to provide students with the competitive edge needed to compete in the global marketplace.

Blended Learning

To best facilitate this objective The CAT will provide both face-to-face and online instruction to students throughout the Hudson Valley and New York State. Although students may learn outside the physical classroom, The CAT will not be a traditional online nor face-to-face program. The ability for students to take classes fully face-to-face, fully online, or any combination thereof will provide all students with advanced technical skills and higher education readiness. In our hybrid environment you’ll find very real support, engaging resources, appropriate materials, and live instruction. All students will have the opportunity to take classes at our facility in Kingston, at our satellite sites throughout NY, and/or participate in intensive camps. Although a live experience will not be mandated it will be strongly encouraged.

Partner with local schools

This school’s pioneering model of education will also intellectually stimulate the local public schools by providing a training facility for local colleges, universities, and in-service organizations and by providing a learning laboratory for local administrators and teachers to visit.  It will also serve as an incubator for innovation and school improvement.   Educators will learn new educational methodologies that they can take back to their home schools. The CAT will work to collaborate, support, and partner with local schools.
